How can social workers and social work students be preparing for the structural changes occurring in behavioral health crisis response?

Social workers are a crucial part of the behavioral health workforce.  The entirety of the behavioral health workforce can be ready by staying apprised of the system implementation milestones, engaging with those system partners for solid care coordination, and providing evidence-based behavioral health service practice, especially promoting principles of recovery and early intervention.
DBHDD has a robust behavioral health provider network through our Community Service Boards (CSB). Students currently pursuing Masters degrees in the behavioral health field can reach out to their local CSB for internship and/ or career opportunities. Information about job opportunities in our CSB network can be found at Undergraduate and graduate students should also review recent legislation that provides student loan forgiveness for certain degrees in the behavioral health field.
